Happy Birthday To Me!!!!!

Ahh yes my favorite holiday of the year has arrived, it's my birthday! I turn 23 today. Even though I still don't know what I'm doing tonight I never have had a bad birthday, ever. I'm loking forward to being somewhere popping champagne and counting the seconds until my b-day is over. But seriously It's a true blessing seeing another year. I have a lot of friends who didn't make 21 let alone 23. Hell I don't have many friends who made 18. So I'm going to take today to chill out and be thankful I made it to see another year. Happy New Year and all that other fun shit. I'm not watching no damn Dick Clark tonight! P360 Takeover Vol. 2 drops January 20!

Here's my favorite moment from this past year...Holla!!!!

I Miss Rap City

One of my favorite shows for a long time was Rap City until BET did one of dumbest things ever and cancelled the longest running Hip Hop show of all time. Even though Rap City had recently been littered with subpar music videos it was still the only place to watch rap videos on a regular basis. This is just another example of Viacom, the company that owns BET, attempting to kill Hip Hop. Rap City was replaced with this wack ass show named The Deal. I haven't watched this crap. First off I stopped watching Rap City on a regular basis when Big Tigger left, but I still tuned in to catch the DJ's and freestyles in the booth. Now there's just a lower quality copy attempt that airs at 2AM. The show that repaced Rap City doesn't have hosts with credible Hip Hop resumes. The show is hosted by Memphitz (who's career peak is producing Huey "Pop, Lock and Drop It" and T-Pain "Buy You A Drank") and DJ Diamond Kutz (who?). What the hell is wrong with BET? I watch it just like the next man but I'm not ignorant to the fact that its programming is horrible. 106 & Park sucks without AJ and Free, there is no more good original programming (with the exception of American Gangster and my guilty pleasure Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is) and BET's first attempt at a sitcom is a piece of trash named Somebodies. The BET Awards shows which include the BET Awards, the BET Hip Hop Awards, the BET Comedy Awards and the Celebration of Gospel are alright. Honestly I feel the live performances on the Celebratin of Gospel are the best. I wish BET would bring back quality shows like Teen Summit that educated as well as entertained and BET Tonight with Tavis Smiley but I would settle for my Rap City. Businessman Carlton Richard is in negotiatins to revamp Rap City but I don't expect anything to happen anytime soon. P360 Takeover Volume 2 drops in 21 days on January 20!

New Year's Eve, What The Hell Am I Doing?

Man I don't know what I'm doing New Year's Eve. New Year's Eve is also my birthday. I go through this process every year of putting this off until the last minute and this year is no exception. The past couple of years my fam and some friends got together at my cousin's house and got it poppin' there. Well a few weeks ago my cousin moved to the ATL so partying at his spot ain't happening this year. I'll be damned if I go to an expensive ass club just to spend hella more money on drinks and have some balloons fall from the ceiling. I can get my own damn balloons and liquor. I'm not trying to be at the crib in my drawers with a glass of champagne watching Dick Clark with my parents. Please believe I'm gonna get it poppin' somehow someway but right now ya boy has no idea what the hell I'm doing. P360 Takeover Volume 2 drops Tuesday January 20!

Unofficial High School Reunions

When I come back to the Bay Area I kick it with five of my closest friends. My cousin always told me to keep a small circle to keep drama to a minimum. So I went out with some friends last night and we hit a local bar. We went to different high schools but our schools were 3 blocks apart. The bar we went to was a common meeting spot for graduates of our high schools. Now I wasn't a loser in high school, I wasn't a dude trying to achieve ultimate social status, I ran with the stoners, thugs, band nerds, jocks, blacks, whites, asians and everyone in between. With that being said I hate running into people at these "unofficial high school reunions" that I wasn't even that cool with when we went to school together. Last night I got to see some people who I had lost contact with and was hella happy to see. I also got to see some people I avoided in school and was forced to have awkward conversation about what we're doing with our lives. If you really knew me back then you knew how into music I was, you knew I was going to pursue music as a career, so don't ask me dumb ass questions like "You still playing drums?". If I could put that question on the back of a jersey, hang it from the ceiling of my house and retire it, I would. Now all my people know I got love for them so this blog isn't aimed at you. This is for those who I never had real friendships with, the ones who never really believed in what I was doing and those who were "The Man" in high school and completely suck now. Do you and me both a favor and avoid me when we're in the same building. I'm an asshole but I haven't masterd the art of getting out of conversations I'd rather not be having.

Another random video which has nothing to do with anything but it's hella funny to me...P360 Takeover Volume 2 January 20!

Merry Christmas

I know i sounded a little un-Christmaslike yesterday but Christmas is my favorite holiday despite the mass commercialism overshadowing the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. I hope you all get the chance to spend time with your families and sip on egg nog and brandy until you pass out (excuse the liquor reference I'm a little hungover but ready for round 2 tonight). In the words of one of my favorite SNL characters "Merry Christmas Damnit!".

I hate Christmas music but this song is my jam...even the Grinch had a heart...

Fuck Christmas Music

This may be offensive to all of you who get filled up with Christmas spirit once a year but I hate Christmas music. Maybe it's because I was in band in junior high and high school and had to play a Christmas concert every year. Maybe it's because I'm from California where it doesn't snow and 80% of Christmas music involves the snow. Or maybe it's because it just sucks. Christmas movies aren't as bad though. Bad Santa, A Christmas Story and Home Alone are hilarious to me. But Christmas music, that shit has to stop. Hasn't the point been made yet? I get it, there's reindeer, Santa, fireplaces, gifts, trees, egg nog and snow. Fuck the carollers, fuck chestnuts roasting on an open fire, fuck bloodsucking record labels who make their artists do Christmas albums and lastly FUCK CHRISTMAS MUSIC!

Here's why this shit has to stop, I love Juelz Santana but damn

Rapper Actors

Rapping and acting are damn near the same thing. Most rappers rap about things they never did or play the role of a nigga from their hood who they wish they were. I'm not saying this is right or wrong but people tend to call rappers sellouts as soon as they hit the big screen. Yo stop the hating! Acting is a job just like anything else. It just confuses me that we don't allow rappers to have a career past 40 but we reject their decision to go into a job that allows you to work and be rich until you die. They get enough hate from jealous actors about the roles they get let's not add to the bullshit. You can't perform forever and in this economy you got to have multiple hustles. Any man saying he doesn't want a career like Will Smith or Ice Cube is lying to you. Let these niggas live and get their bread because I'm not turning down any opportunity no time soon. And I wish a nigga would hate on my hustle! P360 Takeover Volume 2 coming Jan. 20!

Hip Hop Fans

What happened to Hip Hop fans? It's like all the true Hip Hop heads nowadays rap. What happened to the people who idolized their favorite MC's and copped their albums on Tuesdays. I used to be at the record store every Tuesday spending hella cash on cd's. The internet is not completely at fault but largely to blame. The MC startup package which includes fruity loops, pro tools and a myspace page makes any average fan or nigga trying to blow up an instant "star". Limewire and other file sharing sites made albums free of charge. With basically anyone being able to enter an industry which used to be sacred the quality of the product goes down. Labels are no longer interested in building stars their interest is in keeping themselves rich during this recession. Ringtones are way more lucrative than albums and the catchy dance and hook songs are more popular than ever. Fans of real quality lyrical Hip Hop are not happy with this one bit. Some of the fans also think they can save the art by rhyming themselves. Unfortunately being a Hip Hop head does not make you an MC. My message to the fans of Hip Hop who believe the art is in danger is to keep supporting your favorite artists and also support the new wave of dope MC's. Cats like Wale, Charles Hamilton, Cory Gunz, Joell Ortiz, Reks, Termanology, Blu and many others are doing alot to elevate the status of the game. Look up these dudes support their shows, cop their mixtapes and we'll keep this Hip Hop shit alive.

P.S. 99% of the niggas who are hot right now have a live show that sucks! This isn't the case with the hottest MC in the game Lil' Wayne... I'm going to his concert in Oakland tommorow night and can't wait!

Back In The Yay Area

So as you know I've been living in Boston for the past 3 years. Flying back and forth between Boston and the Bay Area has its adventures and yesterday was no different. I've been looking forward to coming home, seeing my family and hopping in the lab working on that P-360 shit you know and love. It seemed like the odds were against me early though. As I was finishing packing I looked outside and saw the beginning of the first snowstorm of the season and I thought, "Fuck here we go again!". I've had my flight cancelled before and I couldn't go through that shit again. So since my cab to take me to the airport didn't want to show up I ended dragging my 60 lb. suitcase and drum equipment through blocks of unplowed snow to the train stop. My flight ended up being delayed for hours and almost didn't get off the ground. But nonetheless I made it to Cali (5 hours after my scheduled arrival) and will be grinding it out here for about a month before I return to the bean. I'm looking forward to good weather, good cooking and good times my peoples.

This has nothing to do with anything but I think it's hella funny
